AI visibility for local businesses: get recommended when people ask AI nearby
People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode "who is a good plumber near me" or "which dentist in town takes new patients". The answer names a few businesses. Your website decides much of whether you are one of them.
Last updated .
Short answer: AI assistants recommend local businesses they can identify with certainty: one name, one address, one phone number, the same everywhere, plus clear services, prices and reviews. Most local sites miss LocalBusiness schema or price information. SearchBind finds these gaps in a free scan and writes the fixes in a one-time Website report.
For local questions, AI answers combine several sources: maps and business listings, review sites, and your own website. Your Google Business Profile matters a lot, but the engine still needs your site to confirm the details and to answer the follow-up questions: what you do, where, for how much, and when you are open.
Many local sites were built once by a web designer and never touched again. They look fine to a person, but the address is in an image, the opening hours are only on Facebook, and the services page lists names with no prices and no detail. An AI engine cannot quote what it cannot read.
The issues we look for first
These are the public checks that matter most for a local business site. Each failed check becomes a line in your report with the fix for your pages.
- B9No LocalBusiness schema, or it is incomplete. The engine needs name, street, town, postal code and telephone in structured data. Use the most specific type that fits (Plumber, Dentist, HairSalon) and keep it identical to your footer and your Google Business Profile.
- B5Your name is spelled several ways. "Smith & Sons Plumbing" in the logo, "Smith Plumbing Ltd" in the title tag and "Smiths Plumbers" on Facebook look like three businesses. Pick one spelling and use it everywhere.
- D3No prices or price ranges for your services. People ask "how much does a boiler service cost". If your site gives no price, "from" price or range, the answer quotes someone who does.
- C4No real questions answered on the page. Do you work weekends? Do you cover the next town? Is parking available? Three or more short, direct answers on the page are easy for an engine to quote.
- D6Reviews are not on your site. Show a few real reviews with names and dates on your own pages. Concrete details ("fixed the same day", "quoted 120 and charged 120") carry more weight than five stars alone.
- C10
C12Pop-ups and an old copyright year. A cookie wall or an offer pop-up that hides the page on first load can hide your content from crawlers. A footer that still says 2019 reads as a business that may have closed.
Codes match the public 61-point GEO checklist. The free scan also runs the 10 high-impact checks that are explained only in paid reports.
Example fix
This LocalBusiness JSON-LD (here the Plumber type) covers B9 and gives the engine your opening hours and price range. Replace every value with your real details, exactly as they appear in your footer and your Google Business Profile.

Put it in the page head of your home page and contact page. Most site builders (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace) let you add a code block to the head. If you cannot find where, ask your web person, or contact us and we can help.

01FAQ
Questions from local businesses
Is my Google Business Profile not enough?
It is the most important listing, but AI answers also read your website to confirm the details and to answer follow-up questions about services, prices and hours. When your site and your profile agree, the engine can recommend you with confidence.
I do not want to publish exact prices. What can I do?
Publish a "from" price or a typical range for your main services, for example "boiler service from 80 pounds". That is enough for an AI answer to include you when someone asks about cost.
Can I mark up my reviews with schema to get stars?
Google does not show review stars for reviews a business marks up about itself on its own site. Show real reviews on your pages anyway: people and AI engines read them. Your Google and other review profiles carry the star ratings.
I use Wix or Squarespace. Can I still apply the fixes?
Yes. Most fixes are a code block in the page head, a text change or a new page. The report says where each one goes. Rather not touch the code? We can help: contact us for details.
